(Cobra formerly owned by Donna and Jack Hendrickson)
Craig Sculthorpe (The Duke of New Jersey)
Lead, First Tenor, Second Tenor
Craig
Sculthorpe, as a child, was raised in New Jersey, where he quickly
learned that entertainment was his dream. His mother, being a Big
Band singer, influenced him at an early age by encouraging him to
sing and dance everywhere he went. From local family bars, where he
sang while on the pool tables, to the Steel Pier in Atlantic City,
and then to the street corners of the local community. At these
corners, Craig's love for Doo-Wop began. Moving to Florida had put
entertainment on hold for several years. He joined the Marine Corps
after graduating high school and there decided to put together a
group called "The Sentry's". They began performing at the base clubs
when he was called to serve in Vietnam. Upon returning home, his
desire was still for the entertainment industry, so he put together
another group called the "D00-Whops" who sang on the cruise ships
while providing for a wife and family. Then came a Christian Rock
and Roll band called "Faith" where he was lead singer, manager and
Pastor of Faith Community Church.
Throughout his career, he came to know many in the
business, one of which was K.C. of "K.C. and the Sunshine Band".
This friendship still continues. Craig is also responsible for K.C.
and Trans Con. signing a record deal.
As his
children were growing up, Craig and his wife Rosie raised three of
their five in the entertainment industry, which brings us to Orlando,
Florida. Craig worked for Trans Continental Records and Trans
Continental Films where he looked over the careers of his children,
traveling around the world with the group "Take 5" and on the set of
his other son's feature film, "Longshot".
Now that
Craig and his wife have helped their children to reach their goals,
he is concentrating on his enjoyment, Doo-Wop. |
